Parents Speak Up Louder Than Ever

OnePoint Mobile Surveys Gain Record Response Rate for Kingswood College of Arts Parent Consultation

OnePoint Surveys work with Kingswood College of Arts in Hull to gain an unprecedented response rate for their mobile phone parent consultation.  The college sent a mobile phone survey to 159 year 7 parents and within a day received 54 completed surveys (34% response rate).  This is a dramatic increase on previous paper based consultations where the college has received just one or two responses from the parents from the entire school.

The free and anonymous mobile survey was designed to be simple and easy with the aim of it taking no more than a couple of minutes to complete.  The five question survey asked parents to give their feedback on a range of areas including, the information that they received prior to their child going to the College, how well their child has settled in and the communication that they receive from the College regarding their child’s education.  Answers were ratings on a scale of 0-10 with the final question inviting additional comments. Parents were incentivised to complete the surveys with entry into a prize draw to win shopping vouchers.

The College plans to build on this success by rolling out mobile phone parent consultation surveys to other year groups as well as integrate mobile phone surveys into other areas of the college including staff satisfaction and classroom objectives evaluation.  Nicole Swallow, Headteacher said, "OnePoint mobile surveys are the ideal feedback mechanism for the College. The nature of mobile surveys allows to us engage with our various stakeholders in a cost effective and convenient manner."

Having such a robust and reliable mechanism in place for engaging with parents and carers is critical due to OFSTED requiring that education establishments should proactively collect parents’ views on their child’s educational provision in order to complete their Self Evaluation Form.

Neil Jessop, Managing Director of OnePoint Surveys said: “The use of the mobile phone within education offers significant benefits across all areas including personalised learning, staff and parent consultation and school management.  Response rates are higher and faster than other methodologies and respondents continue to favour it as a way of communicating as responses can be given at a time and place that is convenient to them.”
